19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-term trainer his previous coach.
Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's maiden title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.
The win also signifies he has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, comprising in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring outbursts on court had led observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.
However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.
The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour championship, gained dominance to force a final set.
Moutet saved 4 early chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
